MDFR Makes Friendly Wager with San Antonio Fire Department


(MIAMI, June 6, 2013) – Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) Chief Dave Downey has made a friendly wager with San Antonio Fire Department (SFAD) Chief Charles Hood on the outcome of the NBA finals between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs.

Chief Downey has proposed that if the Miami Heat is victorious, the Executive Command Staff of the San Antonio Fire Department must wear MDFR’s uniform for one entire day and pose in front of a SAFD fire truck for a photo. If the Spurs are crowned NBA Champions, MDFR’s Executive Command Staff will wear SAFD’s uniform for a day and pose for a photo in front of one of Miami-Dade’s lime green trucks.

“Everyone knows that heat rises to the top,” said Fire Chief Dave Downey. “We are confident that our home team will bring home the Larry O’Brien Trophy once again.”

The wager was made earlier today in anticipation of Game #1 tonight at the American Airlines Arena.
